What is the object of research?
Any science studies some entities orphenomena existing in nature and in the world as a whole. Scientists make their efforts to find out the composition and structure of these entities, the connections between them and the causes of the occurrence of certain phenomena. The totality of these essences and phenomena constitutes the object of research in science. What is the object of research? Definitions can also be found such:
- A certain reality and its various facets, to which research is directed;
- Any unknown phenomenon or part of it that science is studying;
- The object or phenomenon to which any activity is directed;
- The object or phenomenon that man seeks to know and to which his activity is directed.
Example of an object
What is the object of research is bestunderstand by examples. The object of the study of physics is the entire material world. The various branches of this science have more specific objects of investigation. Thus, the object of investigation of physical optics is the process of propagation of light in a different medium. The object of the study of nuclear physics is the totality of processes and interactions existing inside the atomic nuclei and conditioning their structure and behavior.
In the course of scientific experiments, the test samplesalways undergo certain tests and their properties change. Nevertheless, since the object of the study is not experimental samples, and the laws that determine the properties and behavior of the samples under study, the idea is confirmed that the subject of research can not change the object.
Object and subject of research
Without understanding what is the objectresearch, there can not exist any science. New directions of study or sections of sciences appear together with how scientists learn about the existence of unknown phenomena that were not previously known. In addition, in addition to the subject and the object, any particular study has an object. These two concepts (object and subject of research) need not be confused. In scientific terminology, the philosophical category is used to determine the subject of research. In philosophy, the subject is a concrete property of the object of research, which is observed by the subject (in science - by the researcher or by a group of researchers).
For example, the object of research in medicinethe human body acts (in this case we do not affect veterinary medicine). Accordingly, in a broad sense, the object of the totality of all medical research is a person. Some research specifies its object: cardiovascular system, liver, tendon tissue, etc. The subject of the study may be, for example, the effect of alcohol on brain function, color perception in colorblinds, the effect of a mobile phone on the state of the organism, and so on.
Thus, the object is the field of activity for learning by scientists, the object is the studied property of the object, that is their main difference.
