What is prevention?
The word "prevention" came to us from the Greek language and in literal translation means "safety". In our language, the word is treated as a preliminary measure to prevent something.
The word "prevention" has several meanings that can be used in a different context.
What is prevention: values
- Medical term. It implies the complexes of medical, hygienic, pedagogical, socio-economic, as well as sanitary and technical measures. In this case, they are aimed at preventing diseases, as well as reducing risk factors. Example: preventive vaccination.
- Psychological enlightenment. It implies a preventive talk, which can prevent unpleasant consequences. Example: prevention of early pregnancy.
- Social prevention. It is a preventive activity that is carried out to implement the principle of social justice. In other words, these are actions aimed at preventing any social problem. For example, it can be the prevention of tuberculosis.
- Technical term. These are regular preventive measures, which are aimed at maintaining a technical facility or technical equipment in a serviceable and efficient condition.
