What is Martini?
On hearing already for a long time the brand of vermouth, whichis made in Italy - Martini. What is Martini? It is an alcoholic beverage that bears the name of Martini & Rossi distillery in Turin. It was founded by Alessandro Martini and Luigi Rossi.
Vermouth exists as a drink for more than 2000 thousand years, it is known that even Hippocrates used it for the treatment of digestive problems and stress removal.
Today we can distinguish such leading Martini species:
- Martini Rosso (Rosso) is a drink with a characteristic caramel-red color and a bitter taste, which has been produced since 1863.
- White vermouth Martini bianco (Bianko) - very like women because it has a flavor of spice and the smell of vanilla.
- Martini Rosato (Rosato) - this is an extraordinarypink vermouth. The only drink in the production of which is simultaneously used red and white wine, has an amazing taste of spices and cloves.
Under the above-mentioned trademark,such vermouth lines as Fiero, D'Oro (gold), Bitter, Extra Dry. Not so long ago the production of Rose wine started - it is a pink semi-dry sparkling wine.
I wonder what martini is made of? It includes dry wine, and all other ingredients are kept strictly confidential. Winemaking experts counted today more than 35 species of plants that are used in the manufacture of vermouth. Among them: ash, mint, coriander, orange, yarrow, chamomile, immortelle, ginger, juniper, St. John's wort and others. The main ingredient is wormwood, which gives martini-rosso uniqueness and aristocratic bitterness, which is especially appreciated by gourmets.
The most popular drink in our country is Martini Bianco and many cocktails based on it.
I wonder how to drink martini? It is advised to use it only chilled, it is possible with ice cubes or with a frozen cherry.
