Unification in Moscow in 2018
Unction - a special Christian rite performed in the temples. This is a prayer for the spiritual and physical healing of the suffering, during which seven clerics immediately turn to the Lord (hence the name). The anointing with oil is also performed, which gave the second name to the sacrament - Unction.
Archpriest Igor Fomingives such clarification:
Unction- this is the prayer, in which God is asked to forgive people forgiven their sins. He can repent of the sins that a person remembers during confession. But forgotten sins that accumulate over time can cause mental or physical suffering.
From the article you will learn:
For whom you can order the Unction
The Sacrament of the Unification (Eleoration) is rooted in biblical times. The Savior himself and his disciples healed the seriously ill, turning to the Lord with a prayer. And today, after centuries, the health and life of man remain in the Hands of God. There is a lot of evidence that a ritual, carried out correctly and in due time over a person who is sincerely believing and repenting of committed sins, is able to restore health and spiritual peace.
Important! Unification is held for baptized parishioners of the Orthodox Church (adults and children over the age of seven). It is believed that babies up to this age do not need absolution.
The sacrament can and must be ordered if:
- A person is seriously ill and traditional methods of treatment do not give results.
- A man committed a serious sin, in which he repented deeply.
When ordering the Unification in 2018, in Moscow or any other region, it is worth remembering that the sacrament is not performed for mentally ill people of other religions and people who have committed a mortal sin.
How is the ceremony held?
Residents of the capital can order Unification in 2018 on strictly defined dates, which are set aside for the ceremony in various churches in Moscow.
Traditionally, the sacrament of Unction is held during the period of Lent. You can find out the schedule according to which the meeting will be held in 2018 in the capital by contacting any of the city’s temples. Although, in some cases, it is possible to worship at other times. No special training is required. But, most often, the priests recommend the following sequence:
In some cases, the unction of a person without confession or alternating between the first two sacraments is possible. The rite of consecration can be held:
- for one person (in the Temple, at home, or even in a medical facility where he is treated);
- for a group of people (when several priests gather hundreds of parishioners simultaneously).
Unification of a certain person may take place in different ways, depending on the circumstances. When a large number of parishioners congregate, a prayer service is first carried out, and after the anointing we oil each congregation.
If it is not possible to gather several clergymen in the church (usually seven), it is allowed to conduct the ceremony and one priest.
